Description Bodie, California is just one those places that you have to visit to understand what eerie means. Not only did the residents just up and leave, but they left almost all of their worldly belongings behind. Plates are still on the tables, pool tables with the que sticks laying where they were when everyone left. But it's not only that a town that was once at 10,000 population is no longer inhabited, but there are no trees and vegetation. It's like a tundra where people must have frozen during the winter in their strange wooden homes, and suffered through the hot summers with no cooling relief. No wonder the town was known for the many killings, drunkeness and general unruliness. The mine stil has an estimated hundreds of millions of dollars down there somewhere. If you like mystery, this is a great place to visit. This photo was taken with my old Olympus D-550 compact and digitally remastered with the Gimp Photo Manipulation program. God Bless!
