Description Prometheus bringing fire to mankind. After the Statue of Liberty, Paul Manship's statue might be the best known sculpture in America. The bronze sculpture, weighing over 8 tons and hand gilded with 24k gold leaf, was installed in the sunken concourse of Rockefeller Center in Manhattan in 1934.The zodiacal ring around the lower part of the statue is not clearly seen when viewed straight on from across the concourse and is often obscured by the fountain. For this reason I chose this perspective to show off the wonderful detail in the ring.
