Artist Statement I was born in 1958, born into a family of seventeen siblings, eighteen counted me,
I am the fifth one from the bottom up, and we ranged in ages(at the time) from one
year old to 55-years old, I played with my nephews who where my age. I was a very
shy kid (outwardly) but very devilish inwardly, I fought the devil constantly. Until at
the age of six I begin to exorcise my demons through the medium of painting. I
found that I could began to create my own since of control, as I begin to conquer
all the creatures of my thought by the act of a single stroke of my pencil, pen are
brush. I enter the professional domain of art by the long way around, without any
formal schooling. and so at the age of 38 I debuted my first professional show. In
1996 Art Council in Shelby, NC. It was a major success, escpecially for my moms
who always hoped and dreamed that I would be recognized as a "Professional"
She came to my show, in her wheel chair and her oxygen, not even a month after
congestive heart failure, but she had to be there in that moment " February 1996"
She went on to her glory on new years day, 1997. In her eyes I made it, so here
I am.
