Description This waterfall is a very special place to me. This is a place I have been coming to since I was a kid. I've backpacked here, gone on day hikes, and taken special friends to experience this waterfall. And it may not be the largest or most spectacular waterfall, but for me, it is utterly beguiling in every way.Last year, the worst fire in Los Angeles County history struck, a fire begun by an arsonist. This was the Station Fire. It burned over 250 square miles. I wasn't sure whether Buckhorn still existed. When I heard that Buckhorn was reopened, I left the next day to see how it was. I was overjoyed that it still was here, still beautiful, like a close friend who had escaped catastrophe.I returned the next morning, waking up at 3:15am to return to Buckhorn, to return to this waterfall, to photograph it in the morning light.I finally arrived at the waterfall at 7am. I brought a little portable tripod called the Joby Gorillapod with me, and I set up on one of the rocks facing the waterfall and began shooting, laying on the cold rock. The morning light was perfect. I shot for 45 minutes, then just sat quietly, transfixed by the beauty of the waterfall, then shot some more, staying there for hours.
