Artist Statement I strive, through my photography, to find beauty in the commonplace and in what many might not notice at first glance. Weather it be a vibrant color, a compelling shadow, or the way sunlight illuminates a scene, my photographic eye is forever anxious to draw the viewer in and allow them to celebrate what may easily be taken for granted.
Over time, my work has been influenced by many who have come before me: Diane Arbus, Wolfgang Tillmans, William Eggleston, Nan Goldin, Cindy Sherman, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Huger Foote, Andreas Gurskey, Walker Evans, August Sander, Mitch Epstein, etc. All have radically different approaches, but all aim for the same things: to tell a story and imbue it with aesthetic beauty (even if it's most unconventional) and emotional truthfulness.
