Description This probably won't be on your walls any time soon, but garbage collection is essential for any mega-city. This photo was taken from a window at the Hostal Moneda, one block from the Zocalo in front of the north side of the National Palace. You can see street vendors starting to display clothing and other cheap products. Many people go downtown to buy products in the street. Sometimes it gets so crowded you can barely squeeze through. I have been told that the government has evicted street vendors. We'll see if that works or not. I liked buying things in the street, but I get frustrated when the vendors take the ENTIRE sidewalk by making a double row of stands. I feel no pity for them since they don't really care about those who are shopping. Most of the products sold are cheap Chinese imports. I have heard that there is a Korean mafia, but I can't say if it is true or just a rumor.
