Artist Statement Our connection with nature has become increasingly difficult to maintain as our addiction to technology deepens. More than ever, we’re choosing to forego a walk among the trees or a paddle along the river, in favour of time in front of a screen or other modern comforts.

I grew up in a small town surrounded by a rugged yet beautiful landscape. Not until I left it for a large city did I begin to appreciate how important that regular exposure to lakes and trees was for my personal sense of well-being.

I currently work out of my studio in Ottawa’s west end. It’s here that I harness the beauty of the Canadian landscape, putting my visions to canvas to share with others who have a passion for the outdoors. From snowshoeing to week-long solo canoe trips, all of my work is inspired by my many visits to our regional parks and backcountry.

Good landscape art offers people a strong sense of the places they depict. From its home on your wall, I hope my work can instill that same sense of ease found in the natural world, even if just for a moment at a time.
