Artist Statement Bennett Hall has been a San Francisco artist and photographer for over thirty years, producing artwork ranging from album covers to corporate exhibits. The diversity of Hall’s creative work earned him a reputation as an innovative artist proficient in both the traditional and digital photographic media.
Trained as a fine art photographer in the tradition of Ansel Adams, Hall began his career with gallery exhibitions in New York, Washington and San Francisco. Hall then turned his attention to the business world where he executed numerous fashion, portrait, product and architectural assignments.
In the early 1980's, Hall used techniques such as hand-tinting, pre-Photoshop image composites and exotic darkroom manipulations to create unique imagery.
By the mid-eighties, Hall had creating artwork for various artists and companies; rock stars Huey Lewis and the News, Pacific Bell, Nestle, and Southern Pacific.
His hand-created composite cover for Huey Lewis’ “Sport” helped establish the band's image internationally.
In 1987, Hall launched Business Image Group, (BIG) a design and exhibit firm specializing in visual branding for corporate, hotel and hospital facilities. BIG uses historical and community in its clients facilities as an alternative to c conventional decorative art programs. Clients include Sheraton, Westin, Hyatt, Nestle Beverage Company, Charles Schwab, Nordstrom, TriStar Pictures, Washington, San Jose Health Center and El Camino Hospital.
Recent exhibits in the last few years have focused on historical themes, including created community history exhibits for the US District Courts(see US District Courts), the Cal Rowing Crew's new boathouse in Oakland, Momo's Restaurant, the Omni's Bob's Steakhouse restaurant. Previous projects included the Palace Hotel, Ronald Reagan's presidency for the Century Plaza Hotel, and Hills Bros. Coffee.
Hall continues to accept photographic assignments for his clients and to add to his stock photography library. He is highly regarded in his work with digital restoration, retouching, large-format image reproductions and custom collages
