Description My take on the painting by Winterhalter. Monologue of Charlotte from del Pasos novel: 'I am Marie Charlotte of Belgium, Empress of Mexico and America (referring to the continent). I am Marie Charlotte Amelia, cousin of Queen Victoria of England, Grand Master of the Cruz de San Carlos and Vice-Queen of the Lombardo-Veneto provinces received by Austrian piety and clemency under the wings of the double-headed eagle of the House of Habsburg. I am Marie Charlotte Amelia Victoria, daughter of Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and King of Belgium, who was called the Nestor of Statesmen and I sat on his lap, he stroked my brown hair and said I was the little sylph of palace of Laeken. I am Marie Charlotte Amelia Clementina, daughter of Louise Marie of Orleans, Queen of the holy blue eyes and the Bourbon nose that died of consumption and sorrow by the exile and the death of Luis Felipe, my grandfather, who when he was still King France filled my lap of chestnuts and my face with kisses in the gardens of the Tuileries. I am Maria Carlota Leopoldina Clementina Amelia Victoria, niece of Prince Joinville and cousin of Count of Paris, sister of the Duke of Brabant who was King of Belgium and conqueror of the Congo and sister of the Count of Flanders, in whose arms I learned to dance when he was ten years in the shadow of the thorns in bloom. I am Charlotte Amelia, wife of Ferdinand Maximilian Joseph, Archduke of Austria, Prince of Hungary and Bohemia, Count of Habsburg, Prince of Lorraine, Emperor of Mexico and King of the world, who born in the Schnbrunn Palace and was the first descendant of the Catholic Kings Ferdinand and Isabella who crossed the ocean and set foot on American soil, and that built for me on the shore of the Adriatic a white palace that overlooked the sea and one day he took me to Mexico to live in a gray castle looking the valley and the snow-capped volcanoes, and a June morning many years ago was shot in the city of Quertaro. I am Charlotte Amelia, etc...
Teresa Walker Member Since January 2014 Artist Statement I am primarily a mixed media artist, traditional and not so traditional artists, writer, and I’m also a wife, mother, and grandmother. I am so thankful for the Blessings that God has given us in His world, His artwork is majestic!.
Years ago my art instructor told me that I was unique and had a wide range of styles that were uniquely my own and that she hoped that I would stay true to my own natural talents. My instructor passed away a few years ago and I hope that I have honored her and stayed true to myself by being uniquely me.
My journey as an artist began many years ago when I was a young girl. Art has since then become my passion & I approach my work with an almost child-like naivety and enthusiasm. I find peace and contentment when I create a new work of art and I hope my art pieces will bring the same joy to you as it gave me when I created them. I am continuously experimenting and trying to learn new techniques as I want my art to be a blessing brightening the lives and moods of others just as it has helped me and my family.
My artwork inspirations include: Nature, wildlife, vintage Victorian and Pioneer era art, etc… Most of all my natural surroundings are my constant inspiration. Born and raised on a farm in the country, I have long enjoyed the beauty that this area affords. I love animals, wildlife, and all of nature itself. I’m surrounded by tall pine trees, oak trees, and the wildlife is bountiful here with the deer running and playing across my back pasture. Squirrels, birds, rabbits, and coyotes also visit often. When spring comes to these parts and the wildflowers and flowering trees such as dogwood trees are a gorgeous blanket of beauty where I live; it is truly a blessing from God to be surrounded with this peaceful serenity that I call home.
I hope you enjoy my work, and sharing in my artistic journey. Thank you for visiting my page, I hope that my artwork has been a blessing to you!
