Allison McGree, Bozeman, MT Member Since July 2015 Artist Statement Artist Statement: McGree is a born and raised Montanan. She paints feelings in color. Landscapes, weather, flowers, animals, and abstract images are vividly filled with raw emotion on canvas. Her imagery carries an intensity of hue and sensation that aims to share moments, and her reactions to those flashes of time, with the viewer. Her artwork amplifies the ordinary.
Biography: Allison McGree is a studio artist based in Bozeman, MT. In addition to creating artwork herself, she is an artist in residence, muralist, and a certified K-12 art educator. She received a Master of Arts from Prescott College in Holistic Art Programming, Practice, and Outreach in 2013 where she concentrated on German Expressionism, a BA in K-12 Education from MSU, and a Studio/Fine Arts degree specializing in oil painting and drawing from Gonzaga University. Allison has been the lead artist in numerous community art projects across the state of Montana and has taught in a variety of formal and non-formal settings for over 15 years. Previously a Fellow and Master Fellow for the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME), Allison has worked to facilitate art programs for a K-gray audience. She is represented by the ArtFusion Gallery in Bigfork, MT, as well as by Freyed Sew in Helena, MT. Her interests in the arts are diverse and impassioned. She paints what she loves; and thoroughly enjoys sharing her passion with others.
