Artist Statement Around the age of six, I was given a camera to assist me with coping in a dysfunctional family. It became an element of expression that allowed me to escape from the days of turmoil. Allowing me to get lost through the eye of the camera became one of my favorite things in life. Fortunately, I grew up in a coal mining town and spent summers on my uncle's farm, so I had tons of opportunities to photograph. As the years traveled and the healing came, I once again picked up the craft that had been hidden as a treasure in my mind. What a blessing to escape into the lens and now with the growth of digital, I am addicted and a work in progress. As any artist, I go through times of being blocked and then something happens, like three feet of snow in my fields and inspiration gives birth.
