Artist Statement Inspired by nature and rural living, I seek to express in my art the simple beauty I see around me. I find beauty in the landscape of Iowa farms, native prairie, wildflowers, vegetables from my garden, and decaying and abandoned barns.

My daily life informs my work. I spend much time in the saddle riding about the countryside on my horses. I raise a vegetable garden and put up hay for the horses in the summer. I feed the hay to the horses and eat my garden preserves in the winter.

I have a B.A. in art from a small private college in Iowa, and am licensed to teach K-12 Art. I create my art out of my home and teach elementary and middle school art in the public school.
