Artist Statement Life is a learning experience from start to finish, wherever you go, whatever you do.

Fourteen years ago I left Sydney, Australia with my husband and family to live in the United States. In 2008 we set sail from Maryland on the east coast, in our 43 foot Shannon ketch, Bristol Rose.

Along the way we explored the many islands of the Bahamas and the Caribbean, we sheltered from the hurricane season in Trinidad, passed through the Panama Canal and crossed the vast Pacific Ocean. Two years later we arrived in Brisbane.

During my time in the United States I founded a non-profit, Individual Differences in Learning, winner of a Friends of Education Award 2004. Working as Deputy Director of the Howard County Arts Council was my opportunity to contribute to the community through arts initiatives.

Photography is important to me as a means of capturing moments in time, and more rewardingly, as a means of artistic expression. My writing seems mostly to flow from my photography, although sometimes I have an idea or an experience that prompts me to work the opposite way around, to find an image to express the thought. The natural world, the fauna, flora and patterns in nature, have always been calming influences for me and they often feature in my photographs.

I'm excited about technology and all the possibilities that come with it. Technology gives me the opportunity to truly live globally and stay connected in the world. It is a small world!
