Description Common chicory, Cichorium Intybus, is a bushy perennial herbaceous plant with blue, lavender, or occasionally white flowers. Various varieties are cultivated for salad leaves, chicons (blanched buds), or for roots, which are baked, ground, and used as a coffee substitute or additive. It is also grown as a forage crop for livestock. It lives as a wild plant on roadsides in its native Europe, and in North America and Australia, where it has become naturalised.
Stephen Maxwell, Bangor, County Down Member Since August 2008 Artist Statement I returned to photography and the digital age in the early 2000s after a break of about 18 years. I enjoy the immediacy of digital photography and I am not averse to post production work on an image. I enjoy walking and travelling and have my camera with me a s a consequence of these activities. Photography is a means of relaxation and I enjoy it for itself. I am glad that others enjoy, comment upon and even purchase my work.
