Artist Statement I started hanging around with painters and artists when I got out of the Air Force and moved to Berkeley California in 1970. I startes with collages, then to screen printing an then to b/w white photography with 4x5 speed graphic polaroids and just straight b/w images with a 21/4 twin lens Mamiya, which i used for the next twenty years. I won some shows in the late 1970's and 80's when I was living on the Olympic peninsula, but when my wife and I adopted five kids, the darkroom at home was the first thing to go, time to find a darkroom someplace else was the second. I began using digital processes as soon as they became available, and PhotoShop about the same time. I use a scanner to bring the forty years of negatives and prints I have back into play. I find that my old b/w work looks a bit stiff and constipated to me now, so I use the digital process to more creative and playful, which is much easier if I don't have to count the cost of chemicals and paper into what I do. I'll be posting more on Imagekind, forthe last five years i have been posting on photo.net. Hope you like my creations seth watkins
