Description I painted this from photos gathered on a family trip to Powderhorn, Colorado. The painting is a full sheet watercolor, 22 x 30 inches. I was intrigued by the textures and colors of the foliage on the hillsides and tried to bring that out in my painting.
Jeff Atnip, Germantown, TN Member Since November 2009 Artist Statement I enjoy recording my impressions of local landscapes using watercolor as my medium of choice. In my quest to grow as an artist, I am continually striving to avoid cliche's and focus the viewer's attention on often overlooked subject matter. I love the rural south, but I paint wherever I go. I want the viewer to join me and notice the shapes and the shadows, lines and colors that are framed and carved by God's light. My paintings are painted on archival quality paper with archival quality watercolors. The paper is 140 lb. Arches watercolor paper.
