Description This is a picture I drew in high school. I loved working with multiple mediums back then. I used pencil, watercolor, and Indian ink for this drawing. I wanted to portray something of a paradox with this picture. Considering lions aren't found in Indian, I thought it might be neat to draw two individuals from 'different worlds' making a cautious first contact.
Cole Dempsey, Dallas/Fort Worth Area Member Since August 2010 Artist Statement Cole Dempsey is an emerging contemporary artist, with an eclectic style in genre, who uses various mediums to communicate the visual beauty of humanity and life.
Born on Hahn Air Force Base, Hahn, Germany in 1977, Cole's life blessed those of his parents, who are very artistic themselves, and come from families where art is a way of life, in a very realistic sense.
His family, on both sides, are naturally gifted in the arts: inventing, music, physics, creative homesteading (some of them are still keeping the "dying arts" [i.e. quilting, tool inventing and crafting, etc.] alive within their own families and extended), mathematics, psychology, genealogy, photography, and painting.
Cole was around the age of 9 when he started discovering that he had a natural bent toward drawing, and that it was something he enjoyed doing, although, he constantly drew as a young child.
In high school, he enjoyed his art class for four years, as it was a place where he could experiment and find his "niche" in art. He was also very involved in band, where he placed 1st Chair in trumpet the majority of high school.
Outside of high school, even while serving in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, he began pushing the envelope to see where his creativity could take him, and ate up everything information-wise as he could about technique, different mediums, various styles, and his own ability.
Cole loves to bless people with this God-given gift, and he loves to bless the LORD with it because He gave it to him. He believes that an element of art is Truth, and as an advocate of Truth, Cole's desire is to convey this Truth through his realistic artistry.
