Artist Statement I am an Archhitect of 24 years, graduate of Georgia Tech in 1978. Concept sketching is my tool for giving a client a visual idea of what we are discussing. My sketches are from scratch and are not technically correct. Sometimes prepared in the field in front of the client as we speak. Sometimes on a paper napkin but usually on sketch paper or "trash" as we refer to it. Clients love to watch me do that. It's usually my biggest sales tool. These sketches are prepared in ink which does not give me the opportunity to erase or modify, so often you'll see sketching atop sketching to get the proportions, voids, solids and shadows right. This is true art because it is a reflection of real discussion with a person who may have waited a lifetime to build this building or home and his or her dreams only exist in my "minds-eye". When I prepare a concept sketch, it all comes to life for them.
