My life as an artist started at an early age. As the son of a Philadelphia commercial artist I was naturally exposed to the craft of painting and art. My father taught me to use a brush before a pencil when I was a boy. We regularly visited museums and art galleries to see works of Davis, Picasso, Pollock, Dali and others. I worked part-time in my father’s studio and shop for many years, even while I was in college.

I lived in Europe for a year, and in Italy and France spent time at landscape painting - the results of which you see here.

Currently I am working with abstract graphic-like compositions - which you can see on my website listed ABOVE.....

Today my paintings have bold geometric color areas and forms in simple to complex compositions, and are somewhat like Stuart Davis style. The paintings incorporate bright color areas, graphics, shadows, spherical and chromatic aberration, multiple views of objects, interpenetrating forms, and illusions and patterns to obtain movement and artistic effects.

Generally I use a mahl stick to brace my hand while painting - I do not tape edges. The paintings are on hardboard or canvas and are done with water base acrylic and latex paints.

I have lived and worked in Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Eugene and Portland, Oregon, and Stevenson, Washington in the "gorge", and in Spokane and Seattle, Washington. I am now living St. Helen's, Oregon.
