Artist Statement Sharone Perlstein has been an innovator in a number of markets around the world, the latest of which is marketplace lending. He has utilized his extensive experience to successfully lead initiatives in the real estate, sustainable and agricultural development, and corporate finance markets.

Education and Initial Employment
Sharone Perlstein obtained his B.A. in 1993 from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana campus. Following graduation, Perlstein joined a small trading house on Wall Street. He quickly learned the skills of international trade and finance, leaving in 1997 to serve as Corporate Finance Specialist for New York City-based Orly Capital, Inc. Perlstein handled the company’s listings on the European and American stock exchanges, a function he served until 2004.

Corporate Finance
From 2004 until 2011, Sharone Perlstein was owner of BrookBank Enterprises, Ltd. During this period of time, he worked on other initiatives, but his commitment to corporate finance never wavered. BrookBank was a private investment company well known for its ability to discover the most promising emerging investment opportunities for its clients. BrookBank provided in addition to capital, much needed management support to ensure long-term success.

Real Estate Development
In 2006, Sharone Perlstein launched his entrepreneurship career with the co-founding of Canadel Group. Robert Rubinstein was his co-founder. Perlstein was director of Canadel until 2008, during which time he focused on recruiting top-tier investment partners, such as AIG Global Real Estate. Canadel was based in Israel, with branch offices in Latvia, Moldova and Ukraine. The company focused on investing in and developing unusual real estate projects.

Agricultural Development
From real estate, Sharone Perlstein transitioned to agricultural development, launching BSD Ukraine Agro, Ltd. in 2008. BSD Ukraine was one of the major investment portfolios of BrookBank Enterprises. Erez Meltzer, CEO of Africa Israel Group served as Chairman. BSD Ukraine managed 10,000 hectare of Ukrainian farmland, improving production and investment return.

Natural Resource Development
Sharone Perlstein moved to the field of sustainable development, beginning in 2010 by becoming a partner in the Rainforest Trust. The Trust was founded by David Plattner. Sharone brought his extensive investment and corporate finance background to the task of developing and financing security measures for global governments to assist them in their efforts to protect delicate rainforests. During Perlstein’s tenure, the Trust was active in conservation initiatives with the governments of Brazil, Indonesia, Cambodia and Mexico.

Also in 2010, Sharone Perlstein assumed the role of corporate advisor and investor in Waterland International, a bio-fuels plantation in Indonesia. Waterland managed a 60,000 hectare jatropha tree plantation, which was producing oil for export to Holland. The company was also engaged in feasibility studies with Airbus and Boeing airlines to determine if the jatropha tree oil could be used as jet fuel.

Personal
Sharone Perlstein was born in Israel in 1971. He is an avid art collector and when he is not busy running his various initiatives, he can be found at art shows and sales looking for something unique to add to his extensive collection. He is a member of RWSN Community, a network of individuals and organizations collaborating to bring safe and affordable water to the world’s rural populations.
