Artist Statement Patti Mann was born in Seattle, Washington, but grew up in Los Angeles, California. She married and had a daughter in Colorado, then came full circle back to Seattle again. Never one to let moss grow on her undercarriage, she is currently learning about southern living in Murfreesboro, Tennessee (first lesson: hot and humid).

Patti's been drawing on every available surface ever since her stubby little fingers could hold a crayon. When she got her hands on ballpoint pens she vandalized all her mother’s books with her drawings ("Mom probably should have gotten me a sketchbook in order to curtail all my rampant biblio-vandalism!"). Patti majored in Fine Art in college and attended the Otis Parsons Institute of Art, but left school to start a family. She spent many years working to make ends meet and take care of her family, so wasn't able to give much of her attention to art making, other than the occasional art commission. Over the years she worked as a mouse-cage cleaner in a research institute, a racehorse hot walker at Santa Anita Racetrack, a horse groom, a data entry clerk, a receptionist, an executive assistant, a production artist, and on and on. She currently works remotely full time as a marketing and digital art production specialist for a Seattle-based art publishing company. But day jobs aside – Patti's always been an artist, and all the freaky creative stuff that has been building in her head all these years of working needs to come out now!

Patti loves to incite and inspire strange stories and escapist wanderings in the viewer with her drawings, and she loves to make people laugh and say, "What the...?". She prefers the immediacy and spontaneity of pen and ink, but plays in all media quite happily. "I don't plan too much. I like to sit back and let the universe decide what's coming out of my pencils and brushes today."
