Description The USS Forrestal (CV-59), was a supercarrier named after former Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal and was affectionately called 'The FID'. Commissioned in 1955, she was the first supercarrier, and was the lead ship of her class. She superseded the World War II Japanese carrier Shinano as the largest aircraft carrier ever built in terms of full load displacement and was the first to specifically support jet aircraft.
Michael Colclough, Adelaide Member Since November 2014 Artist Statement This artwork is relatively new in the art world, a new kind of art. As opposed to conventional painting or photography, digital art allows a person to render any image on to any scenery, thereby creating a whole new class of artists. What it also allows those of us who are historians, is to create photos of military history like they were just taken, instead of some historical grainy black and white photo. While these artistic creations may not be considered 'real' art or genuine photography, it is undeniable that this kind of art is here to stay. It has been referred to as 'Digiart'.
I am one of those Digital Artists. I do military art.
