Any artistic or personal statement about me would be without purpose if it
did not first begin with praise for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All
of my art is through Him, by Him, and for Him. Without that premise and foundation, most of this becomes meaningless.
I was born in Louisville, Kentucky and moved around the Southeastern US until the age of 16 when my father relocated into South Mississippi. After high school I attended William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where I graduated with a BS and BA in 1982. My MBA was earned from Oklahoma City University in 1989, along with a masters degree in Project Management from George Washington University in 1999. I obtained my doctorate from Oklahoma State University in 1996. My professional career has largely centered around the computer industry, specifically software development on large systems. Today I am a mid-life career-changer, primarily focused on small scale commercial graphic design and fine art.
God has graciously allowed me to be a relatively fulltime artist for the last 9 years or so, specializing in portraiture, genre scenes and the occasional floral still life. I find the human figure fascinating in design, with its inherent ability of conveying a myriad of emotions through movement and facial expression. It is true that the challenge of imparting an idea through a static visual medium to a viewer is difficult enough without adding the complexities of the human form. But when you get it right, really right, it can translate ideas into feelings like nothing else.
