Description This image is from a 2005 series of wild ponies in the Dartmoor in Devonshire, West England. These ponies roam wild throughout the park but are owned by locals and visited by veterinarians regularly. The Dartmoor is a large national park, home to many abandoned tin mines and the most baffling fog conditions in all of England. It can be quite dangerous to hike in dark or foggy conditions. 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, one of the Sherlock Holmes series, was set there.
Thomas Kanady, Seattle Member Since March 2008 Artist Statement Wildlife and landscape photography allows composition using a full range of textures and colors. Sometimes, to me, it is more like portraiture than nature.
I rarely risk more or physically work harder than to get in the right place for a shot, so photography is also a sport.
