Artist Statement I am an artist from the north east of Tasmania, a mother of two who is currently working part-time as a teachers-aide. In the past I have been a teacher, tutor and administration assistant.
I originally studied a Bachelor degree majoring in sculpture at the University of Tasmania in 1993, but these days prefer to paint in oils.
My paintings have a contemporary/naive style, using bold, vibrant colours and strong design. The main subject matter for my paintings is the native wildlife of Tasmania, as I am interested in the protection of native species. I also love to use these unusual native animals for their specific colours, shapes or markings from a purely decorative standpoint.
