Artist Statement The art making process for me begins by my bringing into singular focus my state of being as I allow the sketching process to give it form. During this process of creative stimulation, I attempt to find a balance between functioning as an editor looking for a direction and allowing the free reign of exploration to produce an impenetrable mess.

When I am fortunate, the results find ways to describe themselves as forms within what has been an amorphic and evolving depiction of space and context. These forms initially emerge as assertions for composition and define themselves over time through the detail of pattern functioning as texture.

My affinities lie within Expressionism and the breakthroughs of precursors like Picasso and Pollock, and my strongest visual influence appears to be caricature.

My mindset is preoccupied with abstract thought borne of significant introspection and obsessive preoccupations with concepts of the nature of consciousness as it manifests itself within sociological dynamics.

My process is an intense excavation of a highly personal nature for the purpose of objectifying it for myself in order to learn from the results and to provide a context which creates access for a viewer to connect directly with the state of being which led to the creation of any one piece.
