Description I was driving the Cades Cove Loop Road in the Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park, when I saw a flash of light to my right. I pulled over to investigate, and came across one of the largest spider webs I had ever seen. It was strung between two trees, and it was the dew on the web reflecting sunlight that had caught my eye. I stopped to make some images, but as I was doing so, my imagination kept going to what must have been a very large spider responsible for this creation. Since I really didn't want to meet or aggravate such a critter, I didn't wait for the dew to dissipate in the warming sun. After a short stay, I jumped back in my car and went looking for other subjects to photograph before the golden morning hours were gone.
Allan Carrano, Spartanburg, SC Member Since July 2016 Artist Statement I've been an avid photographer most of my adult life, but I found a more secure livelihood in being a scientist...my other talent; not that I haven't had success as an amateur and part time professional photographer. I've been published in magazines and scenic calendars. I've also won awards, including Kodak's International Newspaper Awards (KINSA). Among some 250,000 entries, my photo placed 2nd in the color category, and was exhibited at Kodak's Epcot Pavilion in Disney World and in National Geographic Explorers Hall in Washington, D.C. Now that I've entered my retirement years, I am devoting full time to creating photographic art and sharing the results through Imagekind.
