Artist Statement During Susan's working career as an elementary educator, she painted as a hobby. Since her retirement in 2010, she dedicates her time to painting everyday. Her enthusiasm for learning continues on as an artist. Susan immerses herself in art books, DVDs, and the internet to gain technical skill in color, value, and composition. She writes a blog of her art journey to share what she learns and to gain information from the artist community.

Having experience in many painting mediums, oil with brush and/or palette knife and pastels are her preference.

Her style is more impressionistic and she works to paint with impact, allowing her emotional side to come through. Susan hopes that you enjoy her rendering of the subjects she chooses which are mostly seascapes, figures, and still life.
