Artist Statement The subject matter of my work is still life and flowers, but the true subject is my state of mind, my emotion, and whatever struggle I am attempting to work through at the time. I believe in the power of prayer; we have to ask what we want help with here on earth. Prayer works. I say a prayer when I begin each painting for myself to grow and work through whatever I am struggling with, and also for Spirit to speak through me. I ask that what I create be a source of healing for whoever looks upon the work. I have had people tell me that my work makes them happy, and that the Spirit of my work is gentle, loving, and positive. I believe an artist is the vehicle for God (or the Universe or Spirit or whatever your preferred word - God's not a man in a chair in the sky - that's just an easy word to use) to come through and express.

I’m painting flowers because I think they are simply amazing, and this is a way to keep nature’s incredibly beauty around longer than the real thing would last. Also, I am drawn to paint things that are alive.

I am a single mom of two brilliant teenagers and I am a full-time, professionally trained painter. I've been painting nearly all my life, and been adding mixed media in my work the last few years. I love the texture, variety and sheer fun that collage adds to the piece. I have a B.F.A. in painting, studied at Art Center in Pasadena, and with numerous professional painters.
