Description Watercolor Painting Image:14.5 x 21.5 Matted 22 5/8 x 29 3/4 Sometimes you feel very lucky when you get an image that speaks to you instantly that you decide to sit down and start painting. This is one of those images. The expression on each of their faces said a lot. There actually were two other cows in the pasture besides the bull in the pen behind but she seemed to be the babysitter of these three adorable calves. I deleted the barbed wire fencing and gave it a title that each of us might be feeling being mandated to our homes. Lots of layers of transparent watercolor. I tried to keep the background as simple as possible.
Diana Nadal, Portland Member Since March 2014 Artist Statement I am a native Oregonian, mother of 3, grandmother of 3 and wife of 50 years who had found creative outlets as an interior designer and business owner before focusing my creative energy to being a full-time artist 13 years ago.
My inspiration comes from family travels, wine, reflections and shadows on water and other surfaces, scenes with people doing ordinary but interesting things and portraits. I can't resist painting an interesting face! I prefer to paint realistically but lately my emphasis has been on more expressionistic and abstract subjects.
I taught my first workshop on Exploring Liquid Watercolors Using webbing, textures and other techniques--"Making It Your Own," and am interested in teaching artists how to start their own critique groups.
