Artist Statement Sheri Groff Tuchscherer, the sixth of seven children, grew up on the small grain farm homesteaded by her paternal grandparents. An early interest in flowers developed from her father who frequently brought home wildflowers and interesting things he found while working his fields and during walks with her maternal grandfather in nearby pasture hills. Sheri began identifying wildflowers using guidebooks and eventually started drawing and then painting the specimens she found. This led to an increasing fascination in the endless variety of shapes and colors of flowers. Sheri’s goal is to share her amazement in the beautiful details in each flower. She feels many times in our busy lives these miracles are overlooked and hopes her watercolor paintings will remind the viewer of the beauty of nature.

Sheri lives on a farm with her husband and two cats twenty miles from the farm where she was raised. Many of the flowers she paints are from her mother’s gardens. Sheri also spends countless hours walking through pastures and searching roadsides for wildflowers to paint. She says, “For me there is no such thing as a weed!”
