Artist Statement Hollywood Ca. born on July 20, 1944, Richard Mann also known by his artistic names as Rich and R Mann, is the son of Max Goldman and Sylvia Kofsky. His Father was a multi-titled world champion professional prizefighter, were as his mother an artist. Richard shortened last name was adopting Mann from his favorite school, the Horace Mann elementary in Beverly Hills. Both parents were born in the United States. His grandparents were collectively European descending from Russia, Poland, Germany and England. Raised in both Hollywood and Beverly Hills, briefly residing at the Vista Del Mar Children’s Home as a teenager and currently making his home for the last 43 years in Venice California.

After returning home from serving in the US Naval Reserves, Mann was employed as a lighting technician in the motion picture industry. Working with Jack Webb on the Television series “Dragnet” for three years, he later joined the IATSE locals # 728 (studio lighting technicians) and # 705 (costumers) unions as a teamster member. After becoming knowledgeable in the production procedures he excelled as a commercial art director for distinctive production companies such as; N. Lee Lacy etc. and working on feature films with great artist like Von Dutch and a host of actors and celebrities. Mann eventually developed as an independent commercial photographer and a fine art artist.

Art schools and universities have mentored undiscovered personal relationships and experimentations with vital imagery developments. It was obviously clear that this was his passion and inspiration to create fine art.

Perpetual Projects: Recording major Global Boardwalks singularly, and combining them as a 9-12 sequential boardwalk compilation. Also, creating a series of conceptual images as current conceptual and documentary imagery.
