Description I photographed this female Cedar Waxwing during what I call a 'feeding frenzy' at my place. During a feeding frenzy, the whole flock will fly in and out, eating the Juniper berries, and I was almost flown into a couple of times! This lady was kind enough to pose just long enough for me to get a nice portrait. These birds are little acrobats and it's not uncommon to see them hanging upside-down, reaching for berries!
Faustina Peters, Boise, ID Member Since September 2013 Artist Statement I am a wildlife photographer in Idaho and I invite you to imagine, if you will, coming home after a busy day and walking into your own personal wildlife sanctuary that you have created. Can you hear the call of the Bald Eagle or Belted Kingfisher, as you gaze at the walls and shelves in your home? Can you feel the warmth of a summer evening at the park and imagine a chance encounter with a fox or a mink, or with a Great Blue Heron that just caught a fish for dinner and is taking its proverbial drink of water to wash it down? Or perhaps you are watching a Black Capped Chickadee that is bringing little green caterpillars to feed its new family? Or maybe you are out in the morning, just enjoying watching the Lesser Goldfinches flitting among the dried thistle flowers while they toss the fluff and eat the seeds? It is well -known that being outside can help lower blood pressure and relax you, so why not create your own personal wilderness right within your home, so that you can enjoy it every day? It makes my heart happy to be able to share my experiences and passion for wildlife with you in a way that brings you peace in a sometimes chaotic world!
