Description Loons are not something that are normally seen in Boise, Idaho, so when one showed up, of course I had to go spend some time with it! It spent about 5 months at this pond, eating crawfish, etc., before it was decided to move it to a larger piece of water. Apparently Common Loons require a long distance to get into the air and this pond was NOT large enough. This was my favorite photo from the morning that I spent watching it and I'm grateful that our community cared enough to make sure that it didn't get stuck here once the pond froze over.
Faustina Peters, Boise, ID Member Since September 2013 Artist Statement I am a wildlife photographer in Idaho and I invite you to imagine, if you will, coming home after a busy day and walking into your own personal wildlife sanctuary that you have created. Can you hear the call of the Bald Eagle or Belted Kingfisher, as you gaze at the walls and shelves in your home? Can you feel the warmth of a summer evening at the park and imagine a chance encounter with a fox or a mink, or with a Great Blue Heron that just caught a fish for dinner and is taking its proverbial drink of water to wash it down? Or perhaps you are watching a Black Capped Chickadee that is bringing little green caterpillars to feed its new family? Or maybe you are out in the morning, just enjoying watching the Lesser Goldfinches flitting among the dried thistle flowers while they toss the fluff and eat the seeds? It is well -known that being outside can help lower blood pressure and relax you, so why not create your own personal wilderness right within your home, so that you can enjoy it every day? It makes my heart happy to be able to share my experiences and passion for wildlife with you in a way that brings you peace in a sometimes chaotic world!
