Artist Statement I was born and raised in the Houston area, and I received my degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Houston in 2003. I love unleashing my creative side through design, whether it be designing advertisements for a business or creating Save the Date announcements for a happy couple. Although I enjoy graphic design, my real passion has always been photography. In a lot of ways, my love of photography has served to be extremely useful to me as a graphic designer; if at any time I was having a difficult time finding a particular image to fit a vision I had, I would just use my camera to create my own image...and then it was exactly what I wanted. I love the challenge of trying to capture a mood or emotion from behind the lens. I want so much more than just a “pretty picture.” I want my photographs to truly capture every aspect of the moment, because having memories is important to me. Someday (hopefully far down the road) when my memory starts to fade, I want to have pictures that can tell a story for me, because I don’t know that I’ll trust my kids’ version of how it happened, and my wife forgets everything as it is.
