Description The Elissa is the ONLY sailing tall ship in the United States. Built in 1877 as a merchant vessel, the Elissa serviced Galveston as well as other ports during her time on the seas. The ship was discovered in Greece as surplus last century and brought to Galveston for restoration. Unlike all of the other ship restorations that have gone on, the Elissa was brought all the way back to sailing condition! In order to maintain this, the ship must be sailed at least once a year to determine her seaworthiness.
Beverly Turner, Jackson Member Since April 2007 Artist Statement Always searching for beauty! Photography has opened my eyes to a new way to experience the wonders of nature. I love the great outdoors and everthing that Mother Nature has to offer.
Photography and digital art is more than a hobby for me. It's a passion, the way I capture and enjoy life.
I find photography as a way of expressing our artistry and creativeness.
I like to photograph things that catch my eye and touch my soul, so you will see a little of everything in my gallery. I hope you enjoy my photo's as much as I've enjoyed the journey.
