Artist Statement My photography career started in 1975 with a course in
photography at State College at Brockport, NY. Since then my
experience as a photographer and my range of subjects have
been diverse.
I spent a summer in Pennsylvania shooting Motocross
racers where I had photos published in the nationally circulated
"Crash and Burn Magazine" and spent three years as a studio
portrait photographer. As a photo journalist I had the
opportunity to photograph such notables as Jane Fonda, Ralph
Nader, Linda Ronstadt, and The Osmonds. I have also applied
my craft to wedding, commercial, and theatrical photography.
My photography credits of local and national awards and
publication are numerous, including an award from "Time
Magazine".
In 1992, I started delving into the process of Polaroid
Transfer Imaging. This is a special process that allows Polaroid
film to be processed on natural fibers such as wood, cotton,
silk, and untreated paper. Each print, unlike regular photos, is
one of a kind, as it cannot be reprinted once it has developed.
Since learning this new application for my photographic
talents, I have devoted all of my efforts towards creating
imaginative and intriguing pieces of this unique photographic
art.
After much experimentation, I am primarily using
parchment paper for my images. Oil based pastels are
sometimes used to enhance selected images. The result is an
image with the look of a turn of the century postcard or
mono print.
I am currently living in Middletown, NY where I maintain
a studio to create my Images.
