Artist Statement Chuck Maiden has been drawing since the age of three. At that age, upon returning from a family trip to Marineland, he showed his mother life-like drawings of the whales he had seen. As a child he was fascinated with animation, drawing Popeye, Fred Flintstone and other characters constantly. He majored in art in high school, but had another interest: music. At eighteen, he began writing songs and lead singing in a variety of rock bands. You can check out his music at www.chuckmaiden.com

Eventually, Chuck studied graphic design and art formally and began working as a colorist for Malibu and then Marvel Comics. From there he went on to fulfill a childhood dream; working in animation. He began working as a background layout artist and background painter on "King of the Hill" for twelve years. After that he became a colorist for Marvel's "The Super Hero Squad Show" and "American Dad" for Fox Television Animation. Chuck exhibited and sold his work in several group shows at Film Roman and Fox Television Animation.

He is most interested in working digitally with Photoshop and Painter. Images that look like they were painted by hand are his specialty. He believes that any piece of art that compels and draws in the viewer has merit and validity, regardless of the means of construction. Thank you for appreciating the art of Chuck Maiden!
