Description This is my interpretation of the 1865 painting by Franz Xaver Winterhaulter of Empress Elizabeth “Sisi” of Austria. This portrait presents the empress in a romantic fashion enhancing her reputation as one of the great beauties of her time. In the original painting she is wearing a white satin and tulle dress dotted with silver foil stars and with diamond stars in her hair. This portrait is one of Winterhalter’s best known works. I hope that I did him justice on my interpretation and my spin on this beautiful painting. I have done a few of these and each one is a little different, some are more lifelike and some are more fantasy, these were all done by me. I do not have PaintShop, Adobe, or anything like that I’m too poor to purchase them or I would, lol. Elisabeth of Austria “Sisi” (24 December 1837 – 10 September 1898) was Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary, as wife of Franz Joseph 1. Her life was filled with sadness, her only son died in a murder-suicide tragedy at his hunting lodge then later on while she was travelling in Geneva in 1898, she was stabbed to death by an anarchist, who had missed his chance to assassinate the Duke of Orléans and wanted to kill the next member of royalty that he saw. Sisi was the longest-reigning Empress of Austria, at 44 years.I love the Victorian era and have always found it to be fascinating. If the Victorian era is as intriguing to you as it is to me then you may want to check out my Victorian inspired website? I have included some of my favorite Victorian and Pioneer era recipes on there and they are free to anyone who would like them. Years ago my art instructor told me that I was unique and had a wide range of styles that were uniquely my own and that she hoped that I would stay true to my own natural talents. My instructor passed away a few years ago and I hope that I have honored her and stayed true to myself by being uniquely me.
My journey as an artist began many years ago when I was a young girl then on to around the early 90’sI embraced the computer revolution and developed a way to merge painting and photography in the digital medium. Art has since then become my passion & I approach my work with an almost child-like naivety and enthusiasm. I find peace and contentment when I create a new work of art and I hope my art pieces will bring the same joy to you as it gave me when I created them. I am continuously experimenting and trying to learn new techniques as I want my art to be a blessing brightening the lives and moods of others just as it has helped me and my family.
My artwork inspirations include: Nature, wildlife, vintage Victorian and Pioneer era art, etc… Most of all my natural surroundings are my constant inspiration. Born and raised on a farm in the country, I have long enjoyed the beauty that this area affords. I love animals, wildlife, and all of nature itself. I’m surrounded by tall pine trees, oak trees, and the wildlife is bountiful here with the deer running and playing across my back pasture. Squirrels, birds, rabbits, and coyotes also visit often. When spring comes to these parts and the wildflowers and flowering trees such as dogwood trees are a gorgeous blanket of beauty where I live; it is truly a blessing from God to be surrounded with this peaceful serenity that I call home.
I hope you enjoy my work, and sharing in my artistic journey. Thank you for visiting my page, I hope that my artwork has been a blessing to you!
