Artist Statement Michelle Penington has been painting and photographing since childhood. She was born and raised in Southern California where she danced with Ballet Pacifica in Laguna Beach. She later attended college at the University of Houston where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She has lived between California and Texas while spending a few years living in Los Alamos, New Mexico dividing her time between the art towns of Taos and Santa Fe, she decided she would be an artist full time. She has traveled in Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States, which have been used as her inspiration. Michelle is quite the romantic at heart and stays true to her own individual style. Each artwork holds special meaning and is created from a true love of painting and imagination. Using her art as a way to tell her emotional story in a way that the viewer can relate and create their own story from it.
Michelle lives in Cave Creek, AZ. Her artwork has been featured in various publications, television shows like Sonoran Living and GMAZ, in music videos and as album covers, in the creation of songs and as a “Featured Artist” for Utrecht Art Supplies. She has also been involved over the years in numerous juried shows and is just returning to the studio after having her work exhibited in Old Town Scottsdale Gallery and ASU Downtown Library. . A good portion of Michelle’s time is spent creating commission works. She usually does between 15-20 a year and has come to find it is a very popular part of her art business, with returning patrons whom over many years continue to invest in her art.
Original works are for sale at her private Studio at Rancho Mañana, Cave Creek, AZ, as well as reside in private collections around the world.
