Mary Rucker, las vegas Member Since August 2016 Artist Statement Mary Rucker was born in St. Louis, mo. and had an early passion for art. At 17 when her family lived in Las Vegas, Nevada. She started painting murals for restaurants and selling her painting s to family and friends. She worked in an art gallery in downtown Las Vegas selling art and her own work. She eventually moved to Los Angeles, Calif. where she went to school at L.A.C.C. studying art. She worked for Van Guard Studios as a production artist. While raising two boys and moving to the Chicago area, she painted in people’s homes and restaurants. One day she approached a local cable station about an idea she had about a TV show where she went into peoples homes, did murals for them and taught her viewers how they could also paint murals in their homes. This led to a half hr. weekly show called “ Mural Mural on The Wall”. After her mother who had a stroke while still residing in Las Vegas, Mary came back home to care for her and is now painting and giving lessons in the Las Vegas area.
