Description I like to challenge myself, and the expression on this unknown woman's face is one of the most difficult I've ever given myself. When I saw the initial photograph, the combination of her facial expressions and the position and intensity of the lighting immediately fascinated me. The original image had a feeling of such beauty and enigma that I don't even think I did it justice, although I spent more time on it than any image I've ever done, and objectively, I think it is my best. I am particularly pleased with the texture and tone of the skin in this drawing, and I hope my work continues to be of this quality in the future
Anya Ciccone, Chicago Member Since May 2011 Artist Statement I am a self-taught artist who specializes in portraits. I can spend hours on one face alone! People and their expressions are an endless source of inspiration for me.
I look at art as a process and a concentration exercise, and I hope to convey this in my work. I hope you like interacting with the work as much as I love interacting with it myself.
