Description 30x40' painting, acrylic and gold on canvas. This painting is the first in a series I'm doing on culture and how we as humans often embrace it without thinking or even challenging it. And so, in this piece Culture has created a woman and trapped her within the confines of modern-day expectations.
Ryan Davison, Oklahoma City Member Since March 2016 Artist Statement Ryan Christopher was born and raised in a small town in Oregon and has since lived in several states across the West. He has always had a passion for learning and trying to understand the history of the earth and human culture. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Master‘s in Geology, he felt a pull towards painting as a means to further explore the world, question beliefs, and understand the human condition. His grandmother had always said that he should be a painter because she could see his drive for understanding. He began to use experiences from his own life and world travels to create art that is expressed in vibrant acrylic colors, oil paints, and leaf gold. Every year he takes several trips around the world to draw inspiration and continue his quest for knowing why and who we are. He now lives in the Paseo Arts district in Oklahoma City and his work can be seen on RyanChristopherArt.com
