I was born on July 15, 1975 in the small town of Kingstree, SC. During my childhood a pencil and paper was all that was needed to give me inspiration. The natural passion for drawing was carried with me throughout my life. In Elementary and High School I was given direction by my parents and teachers to stretch my potential. They encouraged me to expand my portfolio while using different types of mediums to render. I later found myself working with charcoals, pencil, ink, pastels, watercolors, prism colors, and oils. It was great to see how these mediums and different techniques added depth and life to my pieces. And as a result, in my senior year of high school I placed 1st in my first school district art show, with over 20 schools and thousands of students. Following high school I was awarded a full scholarship to The School of Visual Arts, in New York City.

In 1998 I moved to Orlando Florida with my wife to start a family and create new adventures for myself along the way. Preceding the birth of my second daughter I found myself drawing a lot of portraits of my girls.
There wasn’t a day that didn’t go by where I wasn’t trying to capture their magical beauty; their eyes, their smiles, fingers and toes. It was then where my love for portrait drawing began.
Since then my works have been displayed and sold in galleries such as Williamsburg County Art Gallery in South Carolina, Telfair Art Museum in Savannah Georgia, showcased in Eco-Art Studio Orlando, Florida www.FRANKMITCHUM.com, and my very own clothing line Rizzo Wear, with future works and locations to come.
