You give us protection from those who seem to be untouchable, simply because we reach for the hem of your garment. You restore us from the valley of death, and you set a table before us, poor and lame in the presence of those who strive to crush. Thank for silencing the scorn and laughter of those who oppress and for wiping our tears with supernatural gentleness. Let us always, shield each other in Your Name. Let us follow in your footsteps, embracing the outcasts, and defending the vulnerable. Thank you for your spirit. May you always dwell within us. I am so glad you are always watching...watching out for us, and watching over us. AmenHonestly, I thought of images not normally associated with God...like the Harley Davidson emblem, like the firefighters badge. I believe God us as fiercely loyal as any biker, as protective as any fireman. I hope Bikers and Marines, firefighters and any advocate will wear this cross as a symbol of their dedication to defending the defenseless, including the LGBT kids who are bullied each day. And I hope those who feel defeated by the arrogant and callous will call upon it as well.

Artist Statement Many cultures make art as a way to focus energy to a prayer. I formerly served as a hospital chaplain. I know though, that you don't have to be in a hospital bed to feel like you're dying. In the spirit of mercy and compassion, I hope to serve people as your chaplain ,by painting you prayers, with all that is in me.
