Artist Statement The work of an artist speaks of his passion, and one look at the photographic collection of Paul “Doug” Betzold Jr. reveals his deep respect for nature. Every day, the beauty and majesty of nature occur in our planet’s mountains, coasts and plains. Doug’s photography allows him to capture some of these brief moments, depicting the splendor and exquisiteness of life that occurs in the elusive yet highly revered features of our unique planet.

Doug's images have been displayed at Seattle's Museum of Natural History and many of the top juried art fairs in the west coast including the Bellevue Art Fair and the ‘Affair in the Park’ in Beverly Hills. Many of his photographs are published each year by the Windermere Foundation in scenic calendars of the Western USA, helping to raise 50k each year for homeless and youth charities. Doug's images of British Columbia’s Kermode Spirit Bears are also being used for fund raising by the Rainforest Solutions Project, a coalition of ForestEthics, Greenpeace, Sierra Club of Canada, BC Chapter and Rainforest Action Network.
