Artist Statement Hi,
Is my name Florica State.
How did this whole story begin with drawing?
It all began as a way of relaxation gradually turning into passion.
I do not remember my first drawing (it's been a long time since then), but I know what was the first one that made me continue, and that was a reproduction of Alain Delon's portrait. When I look at him now it seems clumsy to me, but then it seemed very nice to me.
What motivates me when I draw?
The joy of people when they finally see their portrait (or the portrait of their loved ones). I like to see that people are happy with what I've done. It's a very good feedback, and the drawing itself relaxes me and helps me to see the world more beautiful.
Why pencil drawing rather than digital?
At a time when everything around us becomes digitized, it was to be expected that the arts would take steps towards the digital world, but I think a traditional painting is a unique piece through its human load, it is full of life and emanates the creator's feelings and emotions what a digital painting can not do.
From the point of view of the creator, digitization is a blessing, of course, but his work will be deprived of the transposition of the vibration of his personality and this will be perceived instinctively by the viewer.
It's like when you want to listen to a Beethoven concert, and the protagonist, no matter how good he is, is playing the 9th Symphony at an electric piano. It will of course be a concert ... but will you really feel the great Beethoven?
Even though digital painting is attractive and comfortable, we must strive to preserve the essence of traditional art, regardless of its form, otherwise we will lose the recognition of the essence of the value of the works of Renoir, Van Gogh, Klimt, Monet, Cezanne or Da Vinci !
