Description FENCES, FIDDLENECK, AND FOG by Lynn Bauer - California is called the 'Golden State' for many reasons...and, this seems to be just one more of them! The hills were covered in orange-gold fiddleneck wildflowers this year, creating stunning landscapes of golden beauty! At other times of year, these hills will be covered with the soft gold of the dry grasses...but, not now! Now the grasses are a vibrant green that sets off the pretty gold tones. Low lying clouds and fog in this image are due to the El Nino conditions that have been bringing California some much-needed rain that has been changing the color of our landscape, allowing these wonderful spring scenes! If you look closely, you will also see pops of bright pink owl's clover. This image was taken off of Highway 58 between Bakersfield and Tehachapi, hear the town of Arvin. The road we traveled was called Bodfish Caliente, or Caliente Bodfish...I've seen it referred to either way. It was a wonderful, quiet, and extremely beautiful area that I will be sure to travel again in the future!
