Artist Statement I'm who I am due to my life's experiences. A good portion of lifes experiences will produce the color I see color when I'm feeling extreme emotions. My favorite time to paint is when its quiet and at the same time, when I'm watching/listening to a favorite movie, or song or tv show. I have always seen my emotions and didn't realize that there's a name for it. Synethesia. Or as google relates it:

syn·es·the·sia NOUN physiology psychology ~
~the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body.

When my mood is elevated, I see color. And its chaotic trying to put into words what I'm seeing. As a little girl, I could never find the words to voice my feelings other than laughing or crying in response to any given incident. I SAW my feelings swirling around me or the object of my bliss or rage. I didn't fare well in school because of my inability to voice answers in words, teachers required me to give unless I was in Art class. And I excelled due to my "imagination". I chose it every year that it was offered as an elective.
I wasn't interested in much else except story. I loved books but they lacked the visual stimulation I craved. And so...movies! Just imagine the color I saw when I was experiencing Star Wars for the first time or Jaws! Yes! They made a big impact on my life. And my art.
