Artist Statement Mary began sculpting in 1997 in parallel with her technical career and transitioned to full-time in 2005. She studied at the American Academy of Equine Art (1998, 1999) and in 2007 with master figurative sculptor Richard MacDonald. Early on, she was commissioned by Lydia Williams to create several limited edition and portrait sculptures. Ms. Williams has been an enthusiastic patron and stanch supporter of Mary’s work throughout her career.

Mary’s work has been represented by galleries throughout the country including the prestigious Cross Gate Gallery, Lexington, Kentucky, in the 2007 MFHA Art Exhibition, which traveled to more than 20 cities throughout the United States and including Toronto Canada.
In 2007, Mary was one of three finalists for a life-size statue for the United States Dressage Federation. Her sculpture of the dressage horse performing the half-pass is on exhibit in the United States Dressage Federation headquarters, Kentucky Horse Park, through the World Equestrian Games 2010. Mary, in collaboration with NSS sculptor Mr. Lawrence Noble, were finalists for the Thomas Dove Keizur life-size equestrian statue and she was one of two finalists for a 125% life-size equestrian statue for the town of Woodside California.

Her work has been included in the American Academy of Equine Art, Fall Open Juried Exhibitions in 2001, 2007, 2008, 2010 and the National Sculpture Society in New York City for “Stallions, Ponies and Unicorns” and “Sports Sculpture” exhibitions in 2004 and 2002 respectively, the Equestrian Life Gallery, Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Devon Pennsylvania in 2005, 2006, 2007.
Her work has been exhibited at pretigious horse shows such as ROLEX 3-Day Event (2002) at the Kentucky Horse Park, Menlo Circus Club Charity Horse Show (2007) in Atherton CA., the 155th Upperville Horse and Colt Show (2008), Upperville, VA., the Portola Valley Classic (2001), Portola Valley CA, resulting in limited edition sculpture sales and portrait commissions. In 2007, she had the honor of creating a portrait of Mr. Klaus Balkenhol, the United States Olympic Dressage Coach on his Olympic mount Goldstern.
She was commissioned by friends, family and colleagues at Glaxo-Smith Kline to create the Janine Klein Memorial Trophy, for the winner of FEI Intermediaire I Freestyle class at Dressage at Devon, and by Mary Alice Malone of Iron Spring Farm in 2009 for the Judgement ISF Perpetual Trophy. Additional trophies include the Jim Mitchell Memorial Trophy and the La Scala Restaurant Perpetual Trophy for clients in Southern California.

Locally, Mary has been represented by the Sabine Rose Gallery in Doylestown PA. Her work was included in the 78th, 79th Annual Phillips’ Mill Art Exhibition, New Hope PA, the 30th and 31st Annual Bucks County Sculpture Show, Bucks County PA and she was selected by the Central Bucks Chamber as one of 7 artists to participate in the 2008 Artists’ Studio Tour. As a result of the Studio Tour, she was asked to speak about her career as a sculptor at the Delaware Valley College in November of 2008.

Mary’s sculptures have been featured on the cover of The Chronicle of the Horse Magazine: Rolex 3-Day Event Results Issue, May 11 2007, "Every Second Counts", Horse Show Issue, March 9 2007, "Young Hunter”, and the Dressage Issue, June 30 2006 "Breathtaking", resulting in numerous sales.

Mary lives and works in beautiful Bucks County Pennsylvania on her small farm with her horses Ami, Machu Picchu and her pony Lightning.
